First, we generally require a redo when a student earns a "D" or an "F", and offer a redo when a child earns a low C. We both feel that it is more important that a student learn the material than 'catching them' in a failing grade. Therefore, we allow them to make it up for half-credit per question. Our redo formats are essentially the same, but there are little differences, so I will break them down by class.
In Ms. Grech's class (LA/SS), the format is the following:
1) Only complete the questions you missed.
2) Use your resources: notes, parents, teacher (during recess assistance), etc.
3) Write a sentence for why you missed it -- for EACH question missed. No sentence, no credit!
4) Get a parent signature.
In Ms. Brier's class (Math/Sc), the format is the following:
1) Only complete the questions you missed.
2) Use your resources: notes, parents, teacher (during recess assistance), etc.
3) Write a sentence defending your answer - for EACH question missed. No sentence, no credit!
4) Get a parent signature.
For both classes, students have 1 week from the day they get the assessment back to complete and turn in the redo. They can complete it at home, at school, on the bus, wherever!
Please e-mail us if you have specific questions about your student's redo...
