We made it through week one! The students should be filled with many interesting facts about the upcoming solar eclipse. We finished making our pin hole viewers today in class (thanks for the cereal box donations) and are excited to be making safe observations on Monday at Impett park. You may find a note from Mr. Gordon, the CMSD CEO, explaining the safety precautions regarding the event. Please be aware that we are in compliance with these guidelines. Students will be supervised during observation and will only be looking at indirect evidence of the eclipse using the pin hole viewers. No one will be allowed to look at the sun directly unless they bring approved solar eclipse glasses. We have stressed the importance of NEVER looking directly at the sun, even during partial eclipses when it might be tempting. They have agreed to this safety rule. If you would like to join us, we should be down at the park around 1:30. We have delayed our departure in order to try and live stream the totality as it occurs on the west coast at 1:16. We would love to see you there. If you have any other questions or concerns, please direct them to [email protected]. You will get a response Monday morning.

School starts next Monday, August 14! We have been busily working to ready our rooms and design excellent learning opportunities. It's going to be an exciting year. To make the most of this new adventure, be sure to come prepared. You'll find our supply list here. We understand this can be an expensive time of year, so we focused on supplies that could be easily found for low prices. (As much as we all LOVE those fancy folders, pencils, pen, etc.. they are NOT required). The items listed will be heavily used, and your contributions to the shared supplies are much appreciated. Feel free to bring them on Friday August 11, from 4-6, if you can make it to our open house. We can't wait to see you!
